Respond Energy Upgrade Projects 2014

Respond is currently upgrading more than 330 units this year, across a large number of Respond estates located in Limerick, Waterford, Carlow, Kildare, Dublin and Sligo. The energy upgrades are already well underway and will be fully completed by the end of October 2014.

These projects are being financed by a combination of funding through Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI), Respond and other partnering agencies, such as Kingspan, ESB and Bord na Mona. The SEAI have created a measure with a list of energy saving methods that will make a property more energy efficient, example: wall  insulations, heating controls etc. Energy credits are available for each upgrade which make the house more energy efficient. Energy suppliers invest by purchasing the proposed energy credits saved by each energy upgrades.

An example of such a partnership is Bord Gais who are working in conjunction with Respond to deliver some of the energy upgrades.  Gas boilers will be installed as part of the upgrade where the location of gas mains allow. Energy upgrade projects such as these ensure the continued improvement of the current Respond housing stock.

Respond is very conscious of the way in which fluctuating fuel and energy costs significantly impact on the economically vulnerable in society. Working with the SEAI, Respond improves our Building Energy Rating (BER), increases general comfort, reduces C02 emissions and reduces heating bills.
