Philip O’Reilly, Respond National Co-ordinator of Services for Older People, was at the launch of “Finding our voices, making a difference” at the Mansion House on 5th November 2014. The book highlights the experiences of the participants from the Age and Opportunity Get Vocal Programme which ran from 2008 to 2013. During this period, the Waterford Shadow Puppet group were one of the most successful groups under this particular programme which was funded by Atlantic Philanthropies.
According to Philip O’Reilly “the Waterford Shadow Puppet Project was very successful and an extremely worthwhile initiative. All of the participants on the project extended their social network and have undoubtedly grown in self-esteem and confidence. It is often the case that innovative approaches are required to ensure that important issues affecting the lives of our residents can be brought up in a safe and supportive environment”.
Respond Housing Association has developed excellent working links with Age and Opportunity over the years and currently runs a number of programmes throughout the country including Go for Life, Creative Exchanges and Bealtaine.
