Lynette McGowan’s fantastic story ‘The Red Book’ was chosen as the winning entry  in the Respond National Fairytale competition. The competition was judged by Evelyn Power from Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford.

Lynette was presented with her prize, of a laptop, by the Deputy Mayor of Galway Cllr Frank Fahy, David Parslow, Philip O’Reilly and Philip Dillon Respond

At the recent trip to Áras an Uachtaráin, Lynette read an extract from her excellent and imaginative story to the visiting group and President Higgins.

Second placed winner was 12 year old Kate Dunne, Slaney View Drive, Tullow, County Carlow. The fairytale entitled “Respond Story” was a classic twist on the original three little pig’s fairytale where the pigs have now found housing with Respond after the antics of the big bad wolf. Philip O’ Reilly, Respond Housing presented Kate with her iPad in the Slaney View Drive Community Building.

Third winning entry was submitted by Dylan Kirwan who is pictured receiving his award from Principle Sean Dempsey.
