Nethercross Day Centre was set up in 2006 in order to relieve the social isolation experienced by older persons living in the Finglas area South and West through a range of recreational and educational activities, as well as providing basic health / hygiene services. The service caters for approximately 70 people on a weekly basis.
Each year three of the Day Care Centres in Finglas meet up for the 4th of July celebrations. Nethercross, Odinswood and Clairville. This year it was held in Odinswood as the venue is rotated each year.
All attendees dressed in American colours with sixteen representatives and four staff members attending from Respond’s Nethercross Day Care Centre. The Red Cross were also attended for good measure.
Due to the inclement weather the celebrations took place indoors in the West Finglas Tenants Residents and Association WFTRA Community hall beside the Odinswood Centre.
A selection of salads with burgers, sausages and chicken was served during the festivities with a American Flag cake, made of strawberries and blueberries going down a treat. A singer entertained the guests and plenty of singing and dancing was done by all attendees.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.
