2014 marks the Twentieth Anniversary of International Year of the Family

 width=2014 marks the twentieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family offering organisations an opportunity to refocus on the role of families, share good practices in family policy making and review challenges faced by families worldwide.

 width=Respond currently have a Family Support Strategy which our family support workers have been rolling out nationally.  This strategy was developed to address the specific needs of families on Respond estates through programmed and non-programmed support.

Specific events and programmes support parents and children in active learning activities which is one of the National Outcomes for Parents and Children.  Programmes are run to encourages families to be healthy physically and mentally and part of a positive network of family, friends, neighbours and the wider community.  Respond through its work on the ground supports positive well-being among all of our families.

 width=The current Doodle Den after-school literacy project for families headed off to Secret Valley Farm, Clonroche on Thursday 22nd May.

The families left Sean Browne Crescent by bus with parents, doodle den children and their siblings to enjoy an afternoon, playing in the playground, riding tractors and looking at all the animals Secret Valley Farm had to offer. Feeding the goats appeared to be everyone’s favourite activity. A fantastic fun and informative afternoon was had by all.
